Casuarina is the perfect representation of the samba renaissance movement that has been happening in Rio for the last few years. On the road since 2001, they have been praised by many of the old school samba legends and major names of Brazilian music today, who have either recorded with them or appeared as special guests in many of their concerts, including: Alcione, Beth Carvalho, Lenine, Elza Soares, Leila Pinheiro, BNegão, Maria Rita, Monarco, Moraes Moreira, Sandra de Sá, Roberta Sá, Teresa Cristina, Yamandu Costa, Zélia Duncan, Mart’nalia, Marcos Valle, Frejat, Pedro Luis, Luis Carlos da Vila, Nelson Sargento, Délcio Carvalho, Wilson Moreira, Roberto Silva, Áurea Martins, Zé da Velha, Silvério Pontes. Just to mention a few.

Casuarina has just released a DVD of a concert they did for more than 50,000 people at Arcos da Lapa, celebrating 10 years of the group’s history in the traditional samba neighborhood Lapa, with several very special guests, including Lenine, Áurea Martins, Délcio Carvalho and many others. This remarkable concert was commissioned by Rio’s City Hall.
