Salsa Groove
Assembled in 1992 by percussionist Roberto Chino Bolanos, Kambalache
Negro is one of the best Afro-Peruvian groups in the United States.
A jumble of sounds including percussion, guitar, bass, corus and
the lilting voice of Mariela Valencia, the group plays festejos,
landós, zamacuecas and lamentos. Every Friday evening
@ S.O.B.’s, New York's hottest contemporary salsa bands hit
the stage, while our DJs mix it up with the Latino sounds of today,
like merengue, bachata and Reggaeton.
From the novice to the smoothest
salsero, everybody gets on their feet to dance at Salsa Groove.
And even if you're hopeless on the dancefloor, come by for a free
salsa lesson at 7pm and New York's most experienced (and patient)
dance instructors will be on hand, prior to the show, to guide
you to razor sharp moves. Plus, the Mojitos at the bar are the
best in the city, so that helps too!
