Senegal’s sweet voice, Omar Pene, comes to SOBs for a very special show on March 19th. Omar has a voice recognized as one of the finest in world music. He sings the popular music of his native Senegal, M'balaax and mixes in rhythm, blues, jazz, reggae and salsa, making his sound unique. Along with his band Super Diamano, Omar’s music combines the traditionalism of Senegalese music and the new electronic feel of mainstream music in the new millennium.

His contemporary, the world-renowned Youssou N'Dour, said about Omar, that he is "the living legend of African music."
After playing a pivotal role role in the evolution of Senegal's music, Omar took the international music community my storm for the first time in 2001. Without denying its musical values that made his reputation, he began working arrangements of his music to make it more accessible to a Western audience.
