forced New York to sit up and take notice of Bhangra, a genre of music rapidly
becoming an essential part of the NYC club scene. Although Basement Bhangra's
success is built on loyalty to its core audience, the 1st Thursday of every month
finds SOB’s over-flowing with a crowd that comes in every shape and color.
DJ Rekha's production company, Sangament, Inc. has succeeded in putting Bhangra
and Indian pop on the map of music consciousness. Not only has Basement Bhangra
successfully sold out every month, bringing countless new listeners to South
Asian music, but its highly visible position in New York's club scene has garnered
attention from numerous media outlets (Newsweek, Billboard, and the WB11 News
at 10).
